Backdrops

Though this will take a little effort up front, the results are well worth it. You will need plywood, sandpaper and flat thumbtacks.

Go to your local home improvement center, and purchase a sheet of plywood. Plywood sheets are typically 4' x 8' and comes in various thicknesses. 11/32" thickness will work and cost around $25. Ask for the sheet to be cut down. Typically you get two free cuts. The size you want it cut down to will be the size of your backdrop. Once home, you can sand the plywood with sandpaper to protect yourself from splinters. 

Now lay the backdrop face down on your table. Typically the backdrops have a two inch white boarder around them. Place the plywood on the backdrop and line it up so the edge of the printed backdrop lines up with the edge of the plywood. Wrap the boarder around one of the longer edges of the plywood, and tack in place using thumbtacks. Now move to the opposite side, pull the backdrop taunt (very important), wrap the edge around the plywood and tack in place. Now tack the remain two sides as well. The backdrop can now be placed on your table or counter, against a wall behind your village. 

When you are done with the backdrop for the season, you'll leave it attached to the plywood. Place the backdrop in an over-sized bag or two to keep the dust away, and store it away under your bed, closet, attic, etc. When you are ready to use it again, just pull it our of the bag, and it will be ready to go.
