As you stand on the platform of the train station, darkness overtakes the valley. In the distance you hear the whistle of the steam engine, and can see smoke rising over the tree line. Looking down the tracks you see the light from the lamp of the engine and the ground begins to rumble as the train pulls in. Looking over the train, you notice the jack-o-lantern with antlers for a headlamp, rusted and leaking parts of the engine, cobwebs covering everything, the broken windows and missing floorboards. You think to yourself that this will be no ordinary train ride; this will be the best haunted Halloween train ride ever.
This display has such an incredible amount of detail and features that is it sure to become the focal point of your display. The dimensions are 63 7/8” wide by 19 ½” deep. It is designed to coordinate with the Dept 56 Rickety Railroad Station, Haunted Rail Engine & Coal Car plus the other rail cars, Haunted Rails Water Tower, Dead Creek Mill, Deep Woods Haunt, and plenty of accessories. There is an optional middle piece that is 31 7/8” long and is designed to for the Coal Mine Car.
The mountains are made from thick pieces of polystyrene so it is both durable yet light weight (helps to keep the cost of shipping down). All of the rock faces are carved by hand and has a realistic look. They are painted brown then shaded with tan, gray, light red, and a light brown. The mountains truly do make this display awesome looking.
At either end of the display is a tunnel. The track continues into the tunnels which means you can have one of the train pieces partially in the tunnel, as though the trains has just exited. The walls of the tunnels are hand-carved and painted with a dark brown/black paint. No one will really notice the hand-carved tunnel walls, but we feel it is a nice touch.
The area for the track measures over five feet in length, so there is plenty of room for all of the pieces of the train. Please see the note on the bottom about the track. Behind the track are 2 holes where the adapters for lighting up the train can come through. One is located by the train station and the other at the opposite end of the display. This will give you flexibility in where you can place your train (the optional middle section has 2 additional holes for the adapters).
On the right side is a realistic creek with a waterfall and a pond. In the creek and the pond are fallen branches and rocks of various sizes. The waterfall is made by hand. For the pond, we can tint the color with some green to make it more corresponding with the Dead Creek Mill, or have it more natural looking.
The optional middle section has a large murky lake in the center that is tinted dark, and has fallen branches and various size rocks all around. Crossing over the lake is a wooded bridge designed to fit the Haunted Mine Coal Car. Along the front is additional track. When this piece is added to the two main pieces, the total length of the display platform is eight feet.
As with all of our Halloween displays:
