At a depth of just 11 inches and an overall length of 48 inches, this display is the perfect size for a mantel, tabletop, or counter-top. The display is made of up 2 pieces, each piece being 24 inches long, and the display can hold a total of 4 to 6 buildings.
Each piece has a higher and lower elevation for the buildings. The higher elevation, which is on the ends of the display when the pieces are pushed together, can hold a building with a footprint of 10 inches deep by 11 inches wide; minus the staircase in the corner (see the diagram in the photo gallery). There is a rock/cliff face on the front and outside, and on the side facing in, there is a strip of rocks, and a long staircase of 12 steps leading up to the building.
The lower elevation is 7 inches deep by 11 inches wide, minus the center staircase (see the diagram in the photo gallery), and can hold one or two buildings. There is a staircase with 7 steps in the center leading up to the main level, with cliffs/rocks along the edge. Depending on the size of the buildings you want to display, each inside section can hold 1 or 2 buildings.
Connecting the 4 staircases together is an old bridge. It is 22 inches long, made out of wood, and has many broken, missing, or misaligned floor boards. When crossing the bridge at night, be careful of your steps. After all, it is not the fall that will get you, it is the sudden stop.
Below the bridge is the best feature of the display, the valley of the unknown. The walls of the valley are cliffs along the top, with boulders and rocks scattered along the bottom. The cliffs are hand made, carved, painted and shaded. There are also human skulls and bones littering the valley floor.
At each end of the valley is a cave. If you peak into it, you can see a flickering light ( 2 lights are included with the display, 1 for each side) coming from within (the amount of light will depend upon how much light there is in the room). What lives in these caves? Some myths say it is something human, other myths say it is animal. A few myths say it is a combination of the two. Over the years several people have scaled down the walls and adventured into the caves. They were never seen again, but days after each one, new human bones were spotted on the floor of the valley,
For those who are looking for something larger, additional middle pieces will be available at an additional cost. These pieces include a cemetery, creek/waterfall, and a mid-cliff.
Extra ground color and accent colors are included with the display, as is full instructions.
Please Note: Our displays are shown with Dept 56 and Lemax building and accessories. However buildings and accessories are just for presentation purposes only. No Dept 56 or Lemax items are include with the platforms unless otherwise noted.
